Kitty Nights Vancouver Burlesque

Kitty Nights Vancouver Burlesque The demise of burlesque in Vancouver has been greatly exaggerated. That's the impression we get from all the pastie-and-G-string activity going on, and we're not just talking about upstairs in Sales. The first and third Friday of every month, the Majestic (1135 Davie) hosts Diamond Mine, featuring burlesque, "boylesque" and drag. Call 604-687-1738 for more info. Every Sunday, Maxine's Hideaway presents the dancers of Stiletto Storm in three hours of pole tricks, acrobatics and sensual dance.

And Burgundy Brixx, a trained dancer and former New Yorker, has brought her Kitty Nights from the East Coast to the East Side. Every Sunday, she brings dancers from the local burlesque community to the Biltmore Cabaret. "It's more full every week," she says. "We get the hipsters from the area, older people who remember the legends of days gone by, couples out on dates." Inspired by the more performance art-based shows in NYC, Brixx encourages an anything-goes policy. But, though Vancouver has more lenient nudity laws, she makes sure her girls are covered.
