Chat Noir Club Miami: Part Nightclub, Part Burlesque Show

Chat Noir Club Miami
Where else in Miami can you indulge your inner fetishist among an array of drag shows, comedy, spoken word, bellydancing, live music and contortionists on a Monday evening? Part nightclub, part burlesque show, The Chat Noir (French for black cat), is a 3-month-old extravaganza with the motto ''Two parts circus, one part burlesque, a pinch of class and a dash of trash'' and celebrity hosts like Dita Von Teese and Lady Bunny.

The intoxicating spectacle begins at the front door, as agile stilt walkers, accordion players and the signature Chat Noir cat actually make waiting in line fun. There's a first time for everything on the beach, right? Inside, the mixed crowd includes locals, drag queens, professionals and even some tourists. ''This is the kind of place where you can be yourself,'' explained Tony Ferro of promotions group, the Pennyback Boyz.

The gothic and romantic ambience of Dream Nightclub, located in the thick of Washington Avenue nightlife, serves as the perfect backdrop for the myriad mischievous characters. Complimentary martinis and hors d'oeuvres until midnight are just the icing on the cake -- devil's food cake, that is.

Worried that a night at a cabaret might interfere with your work schedule the following day? Fear not: this party starts early and ends at a reasonable hour. Doors open at 10 p.m. and the show runs until 1 a.m., followed by an open format session into the early morning hours with DJ Shannon.

To get on the guest list, call 786-326-9477 and receive complimentary admission. For those without such foresight, it'll be $20 at the door. And if you have aspirations of joining this hot nightlife circus, auditions for fresh talent are held at 7:30 p.m. every Sunday. Ask for Chris and show him what you've got.

Dream is at 1532 Washington Ave., Miami Beach; 305-674-4444.
