Burlesque Dancer climbing to new heights for homeless

Natasha MaguireA PART-TIME burlesque dancer is taking to the oxygen-starved mountains of Peru to help others.

Natasha Maguire, 28, by day a drugs counsellor, and her housing worker friend Wendy Doel, 26, are going to embark on a 10- day trek up to Machu Picchu, walking for eight to 10 hours a day.

They are hoping to raise £5,000 for homelessness charity, Llamau.

Natasha, from Rudry, Caerphilly, regularly dances with burlesque group What The Butler Saw at Minsky’s Bar, Cardiff, as a means of keeping fit and hopes her training will help carry her through on her and Wendy’s mammoth trek.

She and Wendy, from Nantgarw, Caerphilly, are busy doing extra training in preparation for their journey in October.

“We decided we would do something that’s a life- changing experience,” said Natasha, a mum of one.

“The charity we’re supporting helps the people we work with who are often overlooked.

“We thought we would help the people we see every day.”

The friends are busy raising money to pay for their trip, through a series of events, one of which is a burlesque evening at Cardiff city centre club, Ten Feet Tall, on July 31.
